MAX4ESSFUN Summer School: Neutrons And X-rays In Biomedical Sciences
June 4 - June 8
MAX4ESSFUN are organizing a one week summer school on the topic neutrons and x-rays in biomedical sciences in Mölle, Sweden between June 4-8, 2018.
The summer school will host up to 40 participants from the Öresund-Kattegatt-Skagerack region. There will be a mix of lectures and exercises, offering ample time for reflection and learning, and discussions with the teachers. The school targets primarily PhD students in the Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak region interested in obtaining a broader overview of state-of-the-art neutron and synchrotron based methods relevant for biomedical sciences. However, master students, postdocs and senior researchers are also welcome to apply. No prior experience or knowledge of neutron and synchrotron based methods is necessary for participating in and assimilating the course.
The sessions will have themes such as "crystallography", "spectroscopy", "imaging", "SAXS/SANS", "how to write a beam time proposal" and more, with each theme consisting of both lectures and exercises. In addition there will be plenty of time for discussions, networking activities and reflections in the beautiful environment of the seaside hotel Mölle by the Sea.
The school is free of charge but a fee of 1500 SEK will be charged if you withdraw an accepted registration without acceptable reason.
MAX4ESSFUN is a subproject of ESS & MAX IV: Cross Border Science and Society, a three-year project involving 27 different partners within the ÖKS region. The aim of the project is for the region to be internationally leading in the use of neutrons and synchrotrons light by focusing on younger researchers, as well as the upcoming research facilities ESS and MAX IV.
